A video of the event we held for the launch of our digital document collection on the Military Rule is now available for free viewing (in Hebrew):
In March, at a special event in Tel Aviv, we launched a digital collection of documents dedicated to the period of the Military Rule imposed on the Palestinian citizens of Israel between 1948 and 1966. The collection includes hundreds of original archival documents from the Military Rule Era and about it, and provides direct contact with documentation of this forgotten and repressed period in the history of the State of Israel. The launch event was attended by journalist Hanin Majadli (“Haaretz”), attorney Roni Pelli (Association for Civil Rights in Israel) and researcher Adam Raz (Akevot Institute). Actor Doron Tavori read documents from the collection.
This is the first collection on the Akevot Institute’s document collections website: a new website that allows the public to browse hundreds of archival documents related to the work of Akevot. Each of the collections includes selected documents located by the institute’s researchers in a variety of archives, scanned and uploaded to the website, and they provide an inside look at the state systems and mechanisms involved in various aspects of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
